well if you want to talk about how kelly isnt technically gifted enough to clear one-time, then alright. the lad sticks out like a sore thumb in rodger's system. can barely play one touch and is over-relient on physical skill rather than technical. but i think for sure coates couldve at least stopped one of those. its what separates a good defender from a great one. either way its frustrating that we caused our own demise.

No I wasn’t pointing out anything apart from the fact that Coates didn’t have “donkey reaction skills” like you stated. I actually believe that there wasn’t much Kelly could’ve done with that goal as it came of a flick by Skrtel which he (Kelly) expected to be cleared by Pepe.

We can agree on one thing though, we did cause our own demise but these are mistakes that can be fixed so there’s hope yet.

If you watch the goals we conceded you'll notice that Coates could've saved both those goals if he didn't have donkey reaction skills

Yes because Coates was the reason the ball bounced off Martin Kelly to Yaya Toure (actually Skrtel took it off Pepe’s hands which resulted in the first goal) and again, he was at fault for Tevez being one on one with Pepe…try again mate.

Another who had a good game today. Long may it continue.

Training at Tynecastle (22.08.2012)

I've just read your analysis of today's match and I agree Borini should be deployed down the middle as opposed to Suarez. I also agree Coates should be ahead of Carragher, however I fear it's likely Brendan will choose to play Carragher with Skrtel next weekend against Man City and with no Dan Agger and the pace City possess in attack I can see us getting slaughtered. What do you think? And if we do get thrashed again next week, how long will Brendan realistically be given?

I also think Brendan will start Carragher against City (even though he’ll be done for pace every single time). I’d rather see Coates but I seriously doubt it’ll happen. As for what happens if we get hammered next week? I’m not sure. I think a battering by City isn’t as big a problem as today’s game (I’m hoping we get a draw though). If we get to 10 games into the season and we’ve been battered by top teams and lower level teams then I’ll be seriously concerned and Rodgers could be gone by December if that happens.

Welcome back Luis!

Welcome back too Seba!

Pepe!!!!!

You beauty! Suarez celebrates after Lodeiro scored the winner for Uruguay

Well done to Luis and Seba for winning their first group game (Uruguay 2-1 UAE). Especially Luis who was booed by the Old Trafford faithful (seriously what’s wrong with those people, they booed Bellamy too so did they just buy tickets to boo Liverpool players? Olympic spirit  my ass!). Anyway, Luis shut them up by having a hand in both of Uruguay’s goals and if their booing leads to more wins for Uruguay. I think Luis will happily welcome the jeers.

Good luck today boys!

It’s been almost impossible to find any clips of this match and this is the best I could find so far. Sorry about the bad quality…
