Thank you for everything Dirk. The important goals (City, Inter, Everton, Cardiff etc), the hard work and especially your love for Liverpool. Best of luck to you in Turkey. YNWA!

Dirk is a great player, a great person and was a great servant to Liverpool. From the first day he came to the club, he was someone you could trust and knew that he would never let you down on the pitch. I know how much scoring against Cardiff in the Carling Cup Final meant to him but he was already assured a part of the club’s history even before helping win that trophy. I will miss him around the place and I wish him and his family all the best in Turkey.

We want to win every game that we have left in the league. That’s still really important for us. We want to finish as well as we possibly can and if we can do that, we can take the momentum into next season. Sometimes we’ve been really close to winning games and we have felt that we’ve deserved to win them. But you can’t feel sorry for yourselves. At the end of the day you have to look forward and I think the way we played against Blackburn showed that we weren’t feeling sorry for ourselves. We can’t look back. We want to change things and we will be doing our best to try and do that. We will be more satisfied if we can win as many of our remaining games as possible and have a strong run-in and a strong finish. That is our target. We are playing for Liverpool Football Club and when you are doing that you have to win every game.
